Bread is My Favorite

If you don't love bread this post is not for you. I love bread! Bread hides a lot of sodium which is a no no. So what to do?

I love baking bread. All kinds of bread. I love the smell as it bakes. I love it fresh from the oven. Even store bought, I love toast and sandwiches. I think I could live on bread. And cheese. And water. I digress. *sigh* Unfortunately, bread is one of those things that does not work without salt.

Homemade Bread

Unfortunately, bread is one of those things that does not work without salt.

I tried modifying bread recipes. It didn't work. I have not found a low sodium bread recipe I like. They don't rise or don't taste good. The only way I have found to manage it is to cut the loaf into smaller slices so there is not as much sodium in each slice. If you have a recipe you love please share!

Store Bought Bread

It took me a long time to find this bread. Jack Spratt's Sprouted Wheat Bread. It has 90 mg of sodium per slice. That is the lowest I have found that actually tastes and has the texture of real bread.

I tried some other options, Ezekial 4:9 Low Sodium Bread and it tasted gross to me. I tried Chompie's bread and it was a decent option. The texture felt spongy to me and was not my favorite.

Bread is Tricky

Bread is a tricky one. I found I had to plan it into my daily meal plan if I was going to have it that day. If you have any suggestions or great recipes, send them my way!
